A nutritious breakfast and lunch are served daily. The Food Service Director and Lunchroom Manager plan meals. Menu choices are provided for breakfast and lunch. Copies of monthly menus are sent home as well as posted on the website. We encourage you to pay for meals in advance. Students may pay for meals daily, weekly or monthly. Please send lunch money in an envelope with the child’s name, the amount sent and teacher’s name. The lunchroom staff handles all lunchroom payments and records. Free and reduced applications are available. Applications are approved or denied based on State guidelines. The meal period should be enjoyable for all, so students are to use quiet voices at all times. All school rules apply to the lunchroom. Students should not bring glass drink containers to school. Food will not be taken from the lunchroom to other building areas unless the teacher gives permission.
The School Nutrition Program can lose thousands of dollars annually due to unpaid breakfast and lunch charges. School meals should be paid in advance, or paid at the time of purchase. Uncollected charges represent bad debt which is not an allowable expense to the school nutrition program according to OMB Circular A-87.
Lumpkin County elementary schools allow a student to charge up to three days. After three days, an alternate lunch may be served. Parents are to be called and/or notified by letter when a student account incurs charges and prior to the elementary child receiving an alternate meal.
Extra Sales: Extra items and second meals are not to be taken from the serving area if the student has no method of payment. The School Nutrition Program receives no federal, state, or local funds for second meals for students or for adult meals.
Other Foods: No foods other than sack lunches or snack items from home should be brought into the cafeterias from outside sources.
Accepting Checks: It is the policy of the Lumpkin County School Nutrition Program not to cash any checks. No two-party checks are accepted. The School Nutrition Program accepts and deposits only one party checks written for payment on a customer's school nutrition account. Checks or monies given to cashiers will first be applied to any existing charges, then any remaining funds will be placed on account. If two checks have been returned for NSF, all future purchases will be on a cash only basis.
Lunch prices are subject to change.
